Requirements to Enter Lewis University

Adults interested in attending Lewis University should contact the Admissions Office for assistance. To be eligible for admission, adults must have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours of transferable credit at a regionally accredited postsecondary institution, and have a minimum of 2.0 (scale 4.0) cumulative transfer grade point average (GPA). Homeschool applicants are also welcome, provided they have completed a college-preparatory curriculum. High school seniors may opt for the optional test application process.

With a GPA of 3.48, Lewis University requires applicants to be around average in their high school class. A mix of A and B grades, with very few Cs, is expected. If your GPA is lower, you can compensate for it with more difficult courses such as AP or IB classes. This will help increase your weighted GPA and demonstrate your ability to take college classes. Transfer students who have completed the IAI core general education courses with a previous institution shall complete only the appropriate Mission-based courses as part of the Lewis University graduation requirements.

Last year, 4,266 out of 6,458 applicants were admitted, making Lewis University a moderately competitive school to enter with a high probability of acceptance if you meet the requirements. Lewis University is fully involved in the general education section of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI). First-year students may enter college courses earned through a dual-credit high school experience. Credit earned at another accredited college or university will be evaluated to determine the transferability of courses applicable to a liberal arts program. The application fee for graduate and undergraduate programs for international students at Lewis University is 40 USD. An unofficial academic record from the university is accepted as long as the student does not plan to pursue a degree from Lewis University.
